More than a song Psalm 66
5 antwoorden

Here's a very first sharing of a song for me, its all a bit rough as yet, recorded in my car, at lunch time! (with a dreadful cold so I sound rather bunged up!!!) Be gentle with me. :)

More than a song Psalm 66

Verse
Come and hear, come and hear,
Come and listen, all you who fear the Lord
Come and listen to what He has done
Come to the Father, Spirit and Son
Verse
Come and hear, Come and hear
Come expectant, come and draw and near to God
Come and witness to what He has done
Come to the father, Spirit and Son

Chorus
And it’s more than a song, and it’s more than just words
The sound of our worship, it’s all you deserve
And it’s more than a song, and it’s more than just phrases
The sound of our worship, a song of heartfelt praises

Verse
Come and hear, Come and hear
Come expectant, come and draw and near to God
Come and witness to what He has done
Come to the father, Spirit and Son

Chorus x2
And it’s more than a song, and it’s more than just words
The sound of our worship, it’s all you deserve
And it’s more than a song, and it’s more than just phrases
The sound of our worship, a song of heartfelt praises

Bridge
How awesome are your deeds
All earth falls to its knees for you
For your Glory our praise,
to the rhythms of your grace

Chorus

i think this song is much better lyricly, than your other song.

some of the lyrics in your song reminds me of matt redmans heart of worship.

this song has a lot going for it, keep them coming.

cheers, that other song was, as I said, a "theme tune" for a Women's conference, so it fitted a purpose at the time, probably never to be heard again!

Thanks for the feedback, I hadn't intentionally gone for a Redman-alike song, but I can see the comparison. It was born out of our Pastor talking pre-worship one day, saying to the congregation "let these songs be more than jsut songs, and these words be more than jsut words.....", I kind of put 2+2 together with Psalm 66 and voila....a song. I have about another 20 up my sleeve that are almost ready (needing vocals), most of the backing tracks are done and dusted on garage band already.....prepare to be deluged! lol :)

having run this song past an experienced song writer/worship leader, he suggested I get the focus right, ie Is it to the congregation about God, or to God, as it seems to go both ways, so, I reworked the words slightly, I guess this is the long itterative process we call song writing! I shall endevour to make a new recording, with slightly less cold symptoms and not recrding it in my car, it may sound a little better too. Do you think the words are better now they are more focused in the direction of the congregation? A call to worship? (and less Matt Redman paraphrasing!)

Hi

this is still a really good song i love the updated version, but i also loved the other version as well.

im please you run it by someone whos advice helped you to write an even better song.

keep them coming.

Thanks Mr H. It's made me rethink ALL of my songs, who is the focus, is it consistent throughout? Very worthwhile exercise throwing your work out in the open and also to a specific person, someone who will invest time into you.

I'll post up some other lyrics, but I haven't recorded any other vocals yet.
