Worship Bloopers

3 Oct 2010

This is totally random, but tonight as I was leading worship at church I did a pretty bad worship blooper...

I was doing "Counting on Your Name" (our new song of the month, very good) and instead of singing:

"I'm trusting in your name..."

I sang...

"I'm lusting in your name..."

Yes, it was awkward. And, no it was not a freudian slip.

Does this only ever happen to me? Share your worst blooper below...

LOL

I can't beat that!!

I have a live recording of me singing shackles but instead of singing 'my chains fell off' I sang 'My drains fell off' and then laughed.

Not sure where that came from???

haha, I know someone who sang "Let everything that has breasts praise the Lord"
just another way to say: "and now all the ladies sing..."

this was also not a freudian slip... just a german with a typical approuch to pronounce the 'th'

I was leading 'How great is our God' once, and got confused over the first line of the second half of the first verse – it should be 'He wraps Himself in light', but I thought it was 'He crowns Himself in light', but as I started singing 'crowns' I looked down at our stage monitor and saw it should be 'wraps', so changed what I was singing half way through the word. I didn't realise I'd what I'd done until moments later when I saw the entire two front rows in stitches! I won an 'Ooops' award a couple of years later for it.

I often mix up the first letters (sounds) of words when songs contain repititions. I often make the mistake of singing "Kill us with power" instead of "Fill us with power" because of the "Give us your courage" that follows...

What happens in Holland a lot is that words ending in 'TH', like mouth, are pronounced like 'S'. I've often heard people sing: "May the words of my Mouse, bless your name Jesus" LOL

A year or so after I had been hired at our church I welcomed the congregation to my previous church. After which, the pastor ran up on stage and made fun of me. It was pretty funny.

Last weekend we sang Remembrance (The Communion Song). On the chorus I sang "rising you destroyed our lives." I didn't like that either.

ha ha ha ha ha.... beats my "stir us up in your heart Lord"...

a while back, our worship leader was leading hillsongs 'more than life' and i was on keys. She mimed the first line of the chorus to me "I love you....." I mimed back "I know" :) she couldn't continue. ha ha =)

During our closing song in our evening communion service last night we sang "In Christ Alone" and the second verse; "In Christ Alone, who took on flesh.." We played through the relative linking chords after each verse. I then prompted the corwd to sing "There in the ground.." (The third verse.)

Very embaressing, but we got through it :).

Another 'TH' fail: "wishout Face, we can't please God" (without faith, we can't please God)
